General FAQs

No referral is needed. As a private physiotherapist, you can book directly – just get in touch by text or email with your name, postcode and phone number.

Loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being treated is best – for example shorts for a knee or hip issue, or a vest top for a shoulder problem.

No special equipment is required. I bring everything needed for assessment and treatment, and any exercise plan will be adapted to what you already have available at home.

This varies by condition and is discussed at your initial assessment, where a treatment plan and realistic timeframe is agreed based on your goals and progress.

Not necessarily, but you’re welcome to have a family member or carer present if you’d feel more comfortable, particularly for a first appointment.

Just have a clear space where we can work and, if relevant, have a list of your medications, any recent scans or medical history to hand.

Yes, this can often be arranged – mention it when you get in touch so appointments can be scheduled accordingly.

Progress is reviewed at every session. If your condition isn’t responding as expected, this will be discussed with you and, where appropriate, you may be advised to see your GP or a specialist.

Some techniques can cause mild, short-lived discomfort, but treatment is always adapted to your comfort level and explained clearly beforehand — you’re in control throughout.

Yes, follow-up sessions can be booked in advance once your treatment plan is agreed at the initial assessment, helping to keep your recovery on track.

I was experiencing lower back pain for more than a week when Janet visited. She quickly diagnosed the cause of the problem. The treatment I received and the subsequent exercises she set, quickly improved my pain levels and mobility.
She is clearly a very knowledgeable physiotherapist and conducted the consultation in a very friendly and professional way. I would thoroughly recommend her services to anyone who is experiencing muscular/skeletal issues.

I have had problems with my back for years and recently had an accident that made it flare up again. Janet is very professional and treated me in my own home. With a combination of treatment and exercises she set me, my back is now pain free! I can’t thank her enough!

I fully recommend Janet Cappin. I started physio with Janet 3 weeks and from the first home visit I was so impressed with Janet’s professional knowledge and thorough approach to my shoulder issue. She arrives so well prepared and the tools she has available in my opinion are far superior to the practice I had been attending. I am already seeing the benefits of her skills and I am truly over the moon with this. Janet is warm, skilled and a true professional and I feel lucky to have found her. Anita Barker

Janet visited me twice at my house for two sessions of physiotherapy. Having a home visit was so much easier than spending time getting to and from a clinic.
I found Janet very professional and very knowledgeable. She listened carefully to the problems I was having. After examining me thoroughly she went through some exercises which have really helped me. The prompt email links she sent me after my appointments have been really very helpful too.
I would highly recommend the service Janet provides.

Janet is an exceptional physiotherapist and I am so glad (and relieved) that I have found her! I have visited several other physiotherapists in the area before and have never been completely satisfied, and always felt like I needed longer appointments than the standard 30 minutes.

I have full confidence in Janet's expertise and knowledge. It's very clear how experienced she is! My husband is now also seeing Janet and is very grateful for having found a physiotherapist who can understand and help him with his more complex issues. I've genuinely been searching for years for the right physio who had the high level of experience and understanding that I was looking for. I am pleased to say I have found that in Janet. 🙂
